Coroglen School is a small, rural primary school in Coroglen, Aotearoa, catering to students from Year 1 to Year 8. Our school has a long rich history, founded with the Gumtown settlement in the late 19th Century, and has been serving the community ever since.
We focus on creating a supportive and welcoming environment where every student can reach their full potential. Our students work hard, show social responsibility, and have a strong connection to their community. We have two classrooms with excellent teacher-student ratios and teacher aide support. Currently we have a roll of 16 students, which ensures a whānau-like atmosphere.
We care deeply about the well-being of our students. We use trauma-informed practices, follow the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) framework, Ka Ora, Ka Ako - Healthy School Lunches Programme and have a team of caring staff to support our students. We are well supported by our wonderful Learning Support Coordinator and Resource Teacher: Learning and Behaviour service (RTLB). We ensure that every student feels safe, valued, and ready to learn.
Our curriculum emphasises environmental education, guided by the Enviroschools kaupapa. We teach our students to care for the environment and encourage them to take positive actions in their community. Through programs like Garden to Table and Trees for Survival, students learn about sustainability and conservation, gaining skills that help them protect our natural world.
Our students aim for high standards in literacy, numeracy, science, and technology. They consistently achieve their goals, showing dedication and benefiting from the effective teaching provided by our committed staff.
Community is important at Coroglen School. Our students take part in local events, environmental projects, and service activities, which help them build leadership skills and a sense of responsibility toward their community.
We use modern technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance learning. Our students learn how to use digital tools effectively, preparing them for the future. We also celebrate diversity and teach cultural awareness, ensuring that every student feels respected and included.
We are very proud of our students and are dedicated to supporting their growth. At Coroglen School, we believe in helping every student become a confident, capable, and caring member of society.
We look forward to meeting you soon.
Nga mihi nui,
Karlos Bosson - Principal
Kia ora Coroglen School Whānau,
We have an important update regarding our native tree planting day. Due to the significant wet weather expected in Coroglen over the next 12 hours, we've made the decision to postpone the tree planting until Monday, June 9th, 2025.
The planting site would be too wet and muddy in the morning for our students to plant safely and comfortably. We want to ensure everyone has a positive and safe experience.
Please mark this new date on your calendars. All the arrangements remain the same, just the day has changed!
Thanks for your understanding.
Ngā mihi nui,
The Coroglen School Team
Kia ora Coroglen School Whānau,
We hope you all had a wonderful King's Birthday weekend and enjoyed the break! It's hard to believe we're already in Week 6.
Just a friendly reminder that this Thursday, June 5th, our students will be participating in an exciting tree-planting activity! We'll be planting native trees on a neighboring farm, less than a minute from our school. The weather forecast is looking great for Thursday 5th June, which is fantastic news for our budding environmentalists.
The potential postponement rain day will Monday 9th June.
To ensure your child is comfortable and prepared for a fun and productive day, please remember to send them with the following:
1. Raincoat
2. Warm clothes (layers are best!)
3. Hat
4. Garden gloves
5. Bottle of water
6. Sturdy, enclosed footwear that can get wet and muddy
Please also remember to bring:
1. Spare shoes to wear home
2. A change of dry clothes
3. A bag for muddy clothes and footwear
We're looking forward to a great day of giving back to our local environment and learning more about conservation.
Ngā mihi nui,
The Coroglen School Team
Calling all green thumbs! Coroglen School is excited to be helping a neighbouring farm plant native trees. It's a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature and support our local environment.
The big planting day is next Thursday, June 5th. If the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll be planting on Monday, June 9th instead. We'd be thrilled to have any parents join us for this special day!
